General information
Feel at home. Make your own food in the
self-catering kitchen or enjoy a prepared breakfast. You bring your own sheets and towel
and you do your own cleaning.
Stay in STF’s Youth Hostel! Then you have the opportunity to enjoy other activities
too!
A membership in the STF/IH gives you the key to a different world. It gives you an
access to more than 300 Youth Hostels, mountain-huts, mountain-stations, boat-harbours and
the possibility to take part in new experiences.
Skepparpsgården is a traditional ,19th century half-timbered thatched
farmhouse, surrounded by rolling hills, flowering heaths and meadows.
Skepparpsgården is a typical modest Scaniafarm-house. The buildings were moved in the
forties from what is today Ravlunda shooting range, to be saved for posterity. On the 8th
of June 1952, Skepparpsgården was installed into the Swedish Youth Hostel Federation by
Dag Hammarskjöld, who was then vice president for the organisation. In the beginning the
Youth Hostel only consisted of 3 familyrooms, the remaining beds were arranged in male and
female dormitories with 20 beds in each.More

Haväng "Where from the name alone you
can smell the sea and meadows"(Anders Österling) A beautiful place which breathes
peace and tranquility. Recorded by many authors, praised by many poets and depicted by
many artists, amongst others Prince Eugen.
The area has a long history with much evidence of human activities.
The dolmen of Haväng, a 4.500 years old stone-grave, is the most best known,
The Ravlunda area is rich in archaeological treasures and many household items, even
jewellery, have been found. Nobody knows what is still hidden in the grass covered
hillocks.

On the
moor you find the rare sandsteppes flora with for example, sandlilies and sandcarnations.
On the beach you can find amberstones and feel
the fine white sand under your feet. The sea is so close, you can always hear the splash
of the waves.
In spite of its enormous popularity during the summer-season, you can always find a
peaceful spot where you can be left undisturbed.

Walking paths
Several of the walks start either at the Hostel, by the river (Verkeån ) or by the
sea.
You can choose between exciting hills and valleys, or a more comfortable walk by the
river. If you prefer the sea you can walk for miles in either direction. If you love
nature and want to discover a timeless, beautiful landscape while staying in an old Scania
farmhouse then you have come to the right place.

50 beds divided into 12 rooms.
Cleaning and bedlinen is not included in the price. Blankets and pillows are provided.
Wash-basins in all rooms. 2 WCs in the inner courtyard.
Showers and toilets in a separate building (built in 1994).
Two small dining rooms/assembly rooms with space
for 20-25 people in each.
A newly restored self-catering kitchen, equipped with all modern utensils. (With space for
about 20 people)
Breakfast service. Coffee and ice-cream is available during the summer-months.

Barbeque in the garden.
Distance to the sea 300 metres. Simrishamn is the nearest town, about 25 kilometres (15
english miles) away.
Its possible to walk on fine sandy beaches to Åhus in the north and Simrishamn in the
south. There is a nice walk to Kivik 5 km south along the beach.

Don’t miss a real old-fashioned
country-shop in Vitaby.
Nice atmosphere - good butcher.
Other supermarkets in ICA-Kivik and ICA-Brösarp open 9.00 a.m. - 7.00 p.m. every day.
During the summer it’s possible to buy local lamb, and smoked lamb products from the
small shop just 200m from the hostel on the approach road.
There are restaurants in Brösarp , St Olof and Kivik. Pizzerias in Kivik and Brösarp.
The nearest banks are in Kivik and Brösarp which open daily 11a.m-3 p.m. except Monday
& Thursday when they are open from 11a.m.-6 p.m.

Rent a bike. Ask the reception for details.
You can play golf in Tomelilla, Degeberga and Lilla Vik near Simrishamn. At Tomelillas
"Gladan" golf course everybody can play because you don’t have to have a
green card. Next to, "Gladan" you can visit Tomelilla Summerland. A big
water-paradise for you and the children.
Well worth visiting on a hot summer day.
Horseriding on icelandic horses near Stenshuvud.
Blåsingsborg Café & Logi have several horses for hire. Enjoy the nature from
horseback! It’s an unforgettable memory. Book in advance!

Tennis in Kivik and Brösarp, please contact us for further information.
The Steam-train is also a nice
activity for the whole family. It goes from Brösarps station on Sundays. Have a look at
the time table in reception.
Kiviks Musteri, Stenshuvuds National-park are two
attractions just beside each other. First you can have dinner in The Äpplets Hus, and
then walk right up to the top of Stenshuvud 97metres above the sea-level. You can then
return to the Musterishop to buy liquid refreshments. After your exertions you can enjoy
afternoon tea in our garden in Haväng! Maybe a satisfactory conclusion to the day.
Our nearest taxi-station is situated in Kivik, call 0414-70 098 They can
