Skepparpsgården is a traditional ,19th century half-timbered thatched farmhouse, surrounded by rolling hills, flowering heaths and meadows.
Skepparpsgården is a typical modest Scaniafarm-house. The buildings were moved in the forties from what is today Ravlunda shooting range, to be saved for posterity. On the 8th of June 1952, Skepparpsgården was installed into the Swedish Youth Hostel Federation by Dag Hammarskjöld, who was then vice president for the organisation. In the beginning the Youth Hostel only consisted of 3 familyrooms, the remaining beds were arranged in male and female dormitories with 20 beds in each.
